Sunday school, Wednesday night youth group, ice cream eating contests, glow in the dark floor hockey, and trips to Uprise Festival are just a few of the things the Teens in our church do! If you're in 7th-12th grade, we invite you to come check out our youth group and join the rest of the Teens in our church as they learn to live out their faith at home, school, and on the sports field. Check out the weekly offerings that we have down below and feel free to contact Pastor Shaun if you have any questions!

Sunday School

Every Sunday morning we provide three different Sunday School classes separated by grades. There is a class for Junior High, (7th and 8th grade) and then our Senior High is separated into two different classes, which are 9th and 10th graders in one and 11th and 12th graders in another. During this time our youth leaders teach the teens various lessons on the Bible and what it means to be a Christian. Occasionally, we will go on a “road trip” and take the teens to Hershey Park, SkyZone Trampoline Park, and Liberty Ski Resort just to name a few.

Missions

The Senior High youth (grades 9 through 12) at Five Forks participate in mission trips every other year. We are hoping to alternate each trip, with one being in the states and then one as an overseas mission trip. With this format our youth will have the opportunity to travel abroad at least once while attending Five Forks. Our two most recent trips were from 2012 when a mission team went to Kingston, Jamaica and in 2014 we sent a team to New York City.  We will soon be sending a team to Belize in the summer of 2016. There will also be other opportunities for all of our youth to serve in the area of missions, such as the Chambersburg Project and other local mission outreaches.

Outdoor and Recreation

We believe that God created us to enjoy our time here on earth, which means he wants us to build relationships with one another, to laugh, throw dodge balls at one another, listen to loud music on the church bus, and make trips to get Krumpe’s donuts.  O&R is an outreach to teens who may not have a home church or are not Christians. The goal is to give teens an opportunity to bring friends to an event that is fun, clean, and an enjoyment for all. Music festivals, amusement parks, “Church at the Lake”, bonfires and cookouts are just a fewof the events that O&R can have. Our hope is that teens will come to an event and then be interested in doing more with our Youth Group and eventually find a church home at Five Forks.

Bible Quizzing

Bible Quizzing is a great way for pre-teens and teens–ages 11-19–to “get into the WORD”. Five Forks Church participates in a Brethren in Christ sponsored program, with conference competitions as well as a denominational final. We also have participated in some World Bible Quizzing Events. With an 8-year cycle of study, there is opportunity to intensely study 16 books of the New Testament.

The Books to be studied in upcoming years are:

  • 2011-2012: Hebrews, 1 & 2 Peter
  • 2012-2013: Matthew
  • 2013-2014: Romans, James
  • 2014-2015: Acts
  • 2015-2016: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon
  • 2016-2017: Luke
  • 2018-2019: 1 & 2 Corinthians

Each season begins in late September and lasts into June (or beyond if a team wins a conference championship).  Study aides are available and the teams practice weekly (usually at 8:00am on Sunday mornings), working through the book section by section. The teams compete monthly either with teams in our conference or in an all-day Saturday tournament.

Quizzing is a great way to motivate yourself to memorize scripture.  It requires commitment and is hard work, but it is worth it. Tournament competition can be fun too (especially when you know the answers),

To join, contact Pastor Shaun Kipe or Pastor Jim Recard.
